How did Joker really get those scars?

I just saw %26quot;Dark Knight%26quot;, and it was sooo good! I don%26#039;t understand how Joker got those scars, though because in the beginning of the movie, he said that his father inflicted them, but later in the movie, he said that they were self-inflicted. How did he really get them?|||that%26#039;s the whole point.

he changed the story each time.|||very good question throughout the movie he says alternative stories to the way he aquired those famous scares. One was his dad cutting him, one was him falling onto the knives and there was an alternative way. The movie in its self gives a veryyyyyy small hint that the joker impaled himself with the knife to gain a permanent smile. However if you look at the official comins they state that the joker was involved with a experment that went terrible wrong he has no scares in the comics hes just permanently smilling. Hope i was of help|||In the original comic the joker fell in some vat of acid that turned his face white, hair green and gave him a permanent smile.





In the Movie, The Joker says it was his father, who was described as a drunk. He also says it was self - inflicted.


It adds depth to the character and makes him seem more mysterious.|||Nobody really knows.





Oh and if you want to see The Joker without the make-up then when he%26#039;s about to try and shoot the President, he is one of the Cops and you see him for a split second. Really good.





=]|||At the beginning his dad painted them on, but then they got washed off, so he repainted them on.|||I think that they got he the scars from the early comics from the acid thing|||The Joker isn%26#039;t suppose to be justified or have a reason why he does the things he does.|||Never told in the movie, but i think he did it himself. He was called %26#039;The Joker%26#039; for a reason lol
