In Feb 2005, I had a hysterectomy. I have a 6%26quot; scar on my abdomen. It%26#039;s still purple. How long before it begins to fade? I%26#039;m not rushing out to wear my bikini! (Serious answers only--thanks!)|||It may take a long time. I had my hysterectomy in March 2005 and it still hurts and is purple. It was the second incision on this line . I don%26#039;t mind the scar but the pain is annoying.|||It doesnt get much better. Get used to it.|||it really depend on your blood and body....most likely around two months for complete normal skin tone...but then again, it might be earlier....all depends on your body and what you eat.|||To be honest, it can take years to get back to normal and it will never be the same as the other skin. Some massaging to the scar area may help soften it up if it still is firm in the area. Just time and a tan will have to do for know. Hey is it not where you can hide it? that is the whole point of having a small incision low on the abdomen.|||I choose to look at those scars as the the evidence of surviving an operation. That way you are thankful that you%26#039;re healed and alive which is more important.
Its best to see scars than a dead person. Enjoy a good life and forget about scars even in your bikini.|||well i dont think your scar will ever really fade. it will heal and start to become a different color, but anyhow its not gona be easy to tell you how long because everybody is different. you immune system and health determines how your own body will heal. aside from that...you will always have that scar, its just going to shrink a bit and turn another color...maybe another dark pink shade if you are caucasian.....and that can take a few months, depending on how u care for it|||The scar is the healing. As for the dark color it should be a normal skin color within a year.
