Hi...i self harm to relieve pain and i want to hide my horrible scars so people dont see them...there bright white and are on my arm any suggestions?|||Sorry you have to use self harm to help, ive been there, and still struggle, so no hipocritical lectures.
Long sleeves
Bracelettes, watches
bio-oil helped the scars go down
pure vitamin e oil is also great for reducing the appearance of scars.
If its around your wrist area you could wear a tubigrip/bandage and say you sprained your wrist.
Ive started to accept mine, theyre part of me, so i dont hide them, people tend not to ask anyway.
Ways of trying to prevent me self harming are i try and distract myself, i%26#039;ll make bracellets from beads (means more to me when i wear them, plus handy for hiding the scars) I draw on my si areas in red pen, hard and in the same kind of lines i would to cut/burn.
Hope things get better for you.|||thankyou soo much =] x x x Report Abuse

You mention that you self harm to relieve pain. This may be the dumbest question ever, but what sort of pain? I%26#039;m presuming mental pain. You really do need to go and talk to your doctor to get help to start to deal with the reasons why. Have a look at these websites:

They will help.
Ways to cope when you get the urge to self harm include: Getting an ice cube and holding it your palm, putting an elastic band around your wrist and pinging it really hard, or pressing a key into your palm. These will help to give you the same sense of relief that you get from cutting.
As for ways to cover up your scars? Other than wearing long sleeved tops, there is little that you can do right now. Concealer would have to be slapped on in huge amounts and would be more noticeable than the scars.
They will fade in time.
Please, please, don%26#039;t let yourself go any longer without getting the help you need.
I wish you well.|||As previous answers, bio oil is the best for old scars. But, to stop scars from forming, do the following. You self harm, you know you will do it again, so until the time comes when you can control it, prepare for the next time and have in the house some dressings. Buy some Jelonet from the chemist (its a parafin gauze dressing) then cover with a bandage (not too tight). Change daily. This keeps the wound clean. Also, tell your doctor. I had depression and the doctor gave me anti-depressants. I moved house and had to see a new doctor to get the prescription continued (younger doctors are more open minded). He asked if I self harmed (I was never asked before). My clinic has a nurse who will dress your wound for free, without judgement. Self harming may feel like it is only happening to a few people but it affects all people. I%26#039;m a professional business person and i started self harming when I was 32 years old. I don%26#039;t feel the need to now, so you can come out of it, but only when you are ready.|||You can get this scar cream in places like superdrug and boots that you rub in for about 8 weeks and it will slowly diminish the visible scars, but will not get rid of them completely.
I%26#039;m glad you are over your problems now, take care.|||I%26#039;ve not really got any helpful ideas on how to cover up the scars on your arms, apart from the obvious long sleeved tops but i do have a suggestion.
I self harm and now do it on the top of my legs, it%26#039;s in a much more private place so no one will ask any awkward questions. That is however if you still do it...................hopefully you don%26#039;t. x|||Use bio oil on them, you get it from most chemists, it gradually smooth scars and makes them less noticeable. I hope you speak to you doctor about how to beat self harming, you can learn how to release pain in other ways. Take care|||Concealer? Long sleeves?|||Johnny Depp self harmed and look at how hot he is. Dont worry you%26#039;ll be fine|||Makeup, arm bands, rubber bands.|||wear a long sleeve shirt?|||try cover up|||Theater make-up should cover it up.
